And a press release with sample images:
The Rourke Art Museum is pleased to present an exhibit of works by artist Lance Thorn. The exhibit will consist of photographs of cloudscapes taken in Minnesota. The images encourage viewers to take an introspective look at clouds as an extension of the landscape. Thorn captures the expressive nature of the diverse variety of clouds that are visible above the vast horizon of the Upper Midwest, imbuing them with a sense of emotion, motion and poetry.
“We’re thrilled to host Lance’s first solo show in the Moorhead-Fargo area,” enthused Tania Blanich, Executive Director of the Rourke. “By presenting the artist and his work to our community, we are continuing the Rourke’s long legacy of introducing emerging artists from the region to new audiences,”
Thorn, a North Dakota native, resides in Fertile, Minnesota, where he works as a freelance photographer and videographer. The cloudscapes included in the Rourke exhibit are just one aspect of Lance’s artistic practice. He earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Photography, with an emphasis in Time-based Media, at the University of North Dakota’s Visual Arts program. Thorn has exhibited work at the North Dakota Museum of Art Auction, the Third Street Gallery, the Art of Giving, River Walk Artists, and Amazing Grains Gallery, all in the Grand Forks area.
